FAQs

Where do you deliver soups?

We currently offer hand delivery to Oakland, Berkeley, Richmond, and the immediately surrounding cities every Saturday. If you are outside of this area, let us know and we may be able to accommodate your soup delivery.

What are your delivery & pickup hours?

Delivery: Saturday 12-6pm

Pick up: Saturday 9-11am

I live outside of your delivery area. Can I still receive your soups?

At this time, we are only able to deliver between Richmond and Hayward in the East Bay to ensure the freshness of our soups through local hand delivery. If you're outside our coverage area, contact us at purposeandhopefood@gmail.com and we may be able to accommodate special arrangements.

We’re excited to expand our delivery area as we grow.

How are your soups packaged?

We have 2 soup package options available:

  • Recyclable, FDA approved food-safe freezer bags
  • Reusable glass jars ($2 fee per soup)

Soups are delivered chilled and on ice.
Glass jars can be returned for professional sanitization and reuse. Bagged soups are only filled when fully chilled to maintain quality and safety.

What is your delivery fee?

  • $10 delivery fee for most orders
  • Free delivery for orders over $150
  • Saturday pickups (9:00–11:00 AM): are free. To remove the delivery fee, use code: FREEPICKUP when placing your order.

Not going to be home?

  1. Leave a cooler and ice packs for us to drop off your order safely.
  2. Or, opt for a reusable insulated bag with an ice pack for an additional $20 (select at checkout).

How should I store my soups?

We package our soups in sanitized glass jars and place them in an ice bath after production. This allows you to keep our soups in your refrigerator for up to 3-5 days after delivery and in the freezer for up to 6 months after delivery.

We recommend allowing the soup to thaw in the refrigerator or in a warm bath of water before heating it on the stove.

Note for bone broth orders: we recommend removing 20% of broth from the glass jars before freezing to prevent jar breakage.

Are your ingredients organic? How do you source your produce?

Like you, we are careful about what we put in our bodies. We do our best to select organic produce as much as possible. We primarily source our produce from small, family-operated farms in northern California that use non-spray practices but may not have the ability to pay for organic certification, which can be very expensive.

Additionally, we use the updated EWG (Environmental Working Group) Dirty Dozen and Clean Fifteen produce list when selecting non-organic produce. While some ingredients are non-organic, they are carefully and thoughtfully selected.

Do you offer vegetarian or vegan soups?

We do! Our soups are typically made with bone broth, but we respect your choice to consume animal free products. Please indicate in your order that you would prefer the base of your soup be made with our vegan mineral broth, and we will happily honor your request.

Can you accommodate special dietary needs?

All of our soups are made gluten-free, dairy-free, and refined sugar-free, unless otherwise noted.

We are not able to create custom recipes at this time, but we are always looking for ways to better serve our community’s nutritional needs. If you have a special dietary need and would like to see a soup on our menu that meets those requirements, we would love to hear from you. Please email us at purposeandhopefood@gmail.com with your request.

How salty are your soups?

We season lightly, especially for those undergoing medical treatment or with sensitive taste.

  • Our bone broths are unsalted so you can season to your liking.
  • Our vegan broth is low sodium.
  • In our soup recipes, we use mineral-rich salts carefully and sparingly.

My soup looks very thick. Is this normal?

Yes! Bone broth-based soups often become gelatinous when cold due to natural collagen from beef or chicken bones. This is the sign of a deeply nutritious broth! Simply reheat the soup to return it to a liquid consistency. If needed, dilute it with a bit of water or broth to suit your preferred soup consistency.

Can I order your soup delivery even if I’m not sick?

Absolutely! Our soups are made for anyone seeking nourishing, comforting food. Whether you’re recovering from illness, supporting someone else, or simply want a wholesome meal, we would love for you to try our healthy soups!

Can I cancel my order?

We understand that the unexpected can happen and you may need to cancel your order. To cancel your soup delivery or pickup, email us at purposeandhopefood@gmail.com by Tuesday at 11:59 PM (PST).

Because we shop and prepare ingredients in small batches to reduce food waste, we’re unable to offer refunds for cancellations made after the cutoff. However, if you're unable to receive your order, you can choose to donate it to our Soup Sponsor Program, which helps provide nourishing meals to community members in need.

What is your refund policy?

Customer satisfaction is our top priority. If you are unhappy with your soup delivery order, please contact us at purposeandhopefood@gmail.com within 7 days of your delivery so that we can address your concerns and offer the best possible solution.

Note: Gift card purchases are non-refundable.
